Costa
Rica has four International airports. Limón International Airport is one of
these four airports. This airport was reopened in 2006 for international
flights. Before 2006 it actually worked as an airport only for local flights.
This small airport is located just south of Puerto Limon. Position
09°57´29"N, 083°01´19"W, Elevation 2m (6ft), Operating hours Sunrise
to Sunset.
You
can use this airport if you want to visit the southern Caribbean area towns of
Cahuita, Manzanillo, Puerto Viejo and Gandoca as well as Puerto Limon. There
are many airlines offering both local and international flights.
Puerto
Limon is the capital of Limon Province and the biggest city on Costa Rica’s
Caribbean coast. Each year thousands of tourist from around the globe come here
to enjoy the wildlife nearby. You might want to hit Isla Uvita. This wild green
rock lies 1km offshore and is blessed with one of the country’s most powerful
lefts. You can easily reach the island by boat within half an hour from Limón’s
main port at Moín. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, hotels-motels. You can
enjoy local festivals including Día de la Raza and Festival Flores de la
Diáspora Africana.
